Well, we've been getting a whole load of original looking DM maps at Qexpo, and XeNoN continues this fashion with "Deceit". A huge temple built into the side of some fleshy cliffs, complete with blood rivers cool shadows coming off of the blood red sky. The lighting is great and the maps suck atmosphere chills you as you frag.
Gameplay varies depending on which area you are in, the huge outdoor area presents you with great opportunities for long range rocket fights or to spam people with grenades from above, whilst inside the temple it is much more confined and people tend yo slip towards the super shotty and quad damge combo. No matter where you are hough, combat is fast and brutal. Some map say that the outside area is just too large and at times I did have a few problems with it, but in the thick of things there is always someone pretty close to frag.
item placement makes the map flow nicely, and once you find the quad damage the nap becomes a nice little circuit you can follow whilst taking out other people trying to do the same thing. Ammo is good and there is lots of it to go around, but no to much to make the map feel sloppy. The one thing I would change is the grenade launcher placement, I would have moved it down onto the more accessible floor slightly below where it is at the moment, as you have to go through a teleport or rocket jump to get it otherwise.
Overall another great Qexpo release that in-keeps with the originality and high quality of the other Qexpo DM releases. Just make sure you have at least 4 players...
