XL Say It Aint So

ARGH! Nightmare. It looks amazing but plays like a bitch. The architecture is very reminiscent of likka's Fudge Brownies map but it smaller and pays for it too. Don't get me wrong it looks really good and Rorshach's Jackboot textures look superb but it's a complete pain the arse to navigate. Its fiddly, its cramp, the clipping verges on the suicidal in places and unfortunately, its ultimately annoying.

I really want to like it. The styling is wonderful, the textures are put to good use, but its like playing football in a dolls house (not that I've ever done that though ;)).

If however that's your kinda thang and you have a more tidy playing style than I have, then against the bots you shall have no problems. There are no bounce pads this time around. Ickle and particularly After Eight mint sized lifts are there to help you move about. As are arch shaped teleporters that do most of the body moving.

I would not have put an RL in because its splash damage knocks you for six everytime and makes movement more difficult than it already is. The GL is ok though because raining down 'nades from above is always good for a spawny frag. Close quarters attacking would have been much more preferable again given the maps size.

I prefer this tighter feeling for this map, its more suitable in my opinion. It was built for speed and I think I accomplished this. To me, I feel its a great 1 on 1 map and with 4 people, it can't get much more furious. Let me know what the rest of you think though.

I myself think the gameplay and everything else about this map rock goto www.telefragged.com/gmc to see my review of it.

Sorry for the plug but I can't be bothered repeating myself here as I already have my views on my site 8)
