Evil spacehamsters and pink jellyfish

Smallish map with an oldskool throwback. As usual, Mutantbunny has hardly pushed the boat out on making this release look spiffy; it's actually rather bland in most places, with the lack of sourced lighting failing to complement the dull mix of E3 and brick textures. Some usage of shadows is present but focus is generally on the map's playability.

The layout is quite hard to describe; the central area is fairly small and cramped, but leads outwards to larger, more open surrounding rooms. Connectivity between the two main floors is nothing amazing, with two tricky lifts and a small stairwell in the central atrium, yet the map still feels fairly easy to navigate. The only real problem I found was the bots not accessing the top floor enough, but they can't help being stupid =) - once the RL starts getting dropped about in backpacks, things do become fairer. Other than that, action seemed to be adequately spread across the map. I found 4-FFA the best playerload, but it may be down to personal taste - anything below that worked OK, but supplies seemed to be too freely available.

All in all it's an enjoyable map and worth the download, but seems like a 'draft copy', somewhat. The layout definitely has potential; having the center of the map smaller than it's surrounding rooms is a noteworthy tactic which spreads out combat well. If it were to be redone with more vibrant/detailed looks and improved connectivity, it would certainly rock indeed.

Uhm, I started a review about this map earlier but couldn't get it done.
Anyways, the point is that I didn't like the map at all, it is too blocky and plain, nothing refreshing and the r_speeds were, related to the architecture, waaaay too high. This map would score 2/5 (if at all) on my scala.
Just my two cents...

Read my post in the Hatebreeder comments for elaboration :P

Basically, I agree with some of what you said - it looked a bit shit. I did, however, really enjoy playing it, and did so for an hour or so. I also thought the layout worked well and had alot of potential.

...that's my opinion though, I now know better as to not trust it in the future :P
